About Vince Tuckwood

What’s your question?

Mine is: why do people do what they do?

I’ve been asking some version of that since before I can remember. And it’s led me to some very interesting places.

Professionally, it guided me to HR and then deeper into Talent & Organization Capability – where I added “… and how do we help them do more of what we need them to do?” Since 2010, I’ve consulted with HR, Talent and Organization leaders to deliver value based on what they find.

Alongside consulting, the question also led me to grow the coaching side of my business – with direct clients who are making significant life shifts, and Right Management candidates who are unexpectedly laid off.

And, all the time, answering the question through the meditative act of writing – connecting dots within the confusion and chaos, helping people understand, playing “what if” in fiction and poetry.

Why do people do what they do? I’ve learned a lot from asking that question

(much of which sits in my “grand theory of everything”)

and the beauty is that there is always so much more to learn.

Whether we know it or not, we all have a question. So, let me ask you again: What’s yours?

The Bio Bit

I had a great ride with Pfizer for 20 years, on both sides of the Atlantic

(I’m a Brit based in Connecticut)

and, in my time there, I won awards for innovation in recruitment and retention, and my work on colleague engagement. In my last role, I led Organization Capability & Change across the global enterprise.

I left Pfizer in 2010 having achieved everything I wanted to do in corporate life, and clear in my intent to go independent. My company, View Beyond LLC, is a boutique HR, Talent & Organization Consultancy focused on helping HR leaders at small- to medium-sized companies gain access to enterprise-grade Talent & Organization solutions.

Away from work, I write (a LOT) – fiction, poetry, songs, business, social idiocy – it’s all fair game!

And, for what it’s worth, my dog makes me happy.
