A view beyond The Way Through The Mountains

By July 2, 2025October 18th, 2025Coaching

This is, I suspect, going to be one of those posts…

You know, the ones where I’ll set out an agenda of intent, grand plans, commitments to totally unworkable expectations… Or maybe not.

First, let me answer a question you may not have been asking.

Where has Vince been?

Thanks for asking! 😂😂😂

(and I promise to keep this brief)

For the last 15 years, I’ve been out of corporate life, making a living as a coach and consultant.

As anyone who has lived that life knows, the major challenge is prospecting and business development and, when it comes to that, I’ve had good times and bad times in the past decade and a half. The nature of solo-preneur business development and my own mental wiring and preferences mean that I have, to some extent, been all over the map – from transformational coaching to app development to novels and screenplays and on, and on, and on…

In many ways, it’s hard to pin me down – whether that’s by choice or just because I am who I am, I know it’s not easy

(and marketing professionals will tell you its FAR from ideal)

But, that said, 2025 has been qualitatively and quantitatively different.

And I have a very strong feeling that I

(finally)

know what I’m here for – in my professional life, at least.

It all started in late April 2025.

What changed in April?

The history of View Beyond is pretty clear in the articles stretching back to 2013. And, if you’ve been following along, you’ll know that since 2021-ish, my focus was very much on Improving HR. In April, I accepted the subconscious whisper that had been speaking louder and louder over the past few years: I wasn’t interested in Improving HR, I was interested in helping the people who were stuck there.

And a book outline that I’d drafted in November of 2024

(after years of thinking about it)

was just sitting there, waiting for me to finally come home.

I wrote The Way Through The Mountains from top to bottom in April.

At the same time, knowing that this was an organizing framework that I would adhere to throughout my coaching going forward, I totally revamped:

  1. The View Beyond site
  2. My LinkedIn presence
  3. Existing career management workbooks; such as Your Next Thing and At The Crossroads
  4. My selling approach and discussion framing

By the end of April, the book was written, and I was standing fully in my WTM persona and presence.

And, let me tell you, it feels good!

So where are we now?

Now, let’s talk about this blog going forward.

First, we’re saying goodbye to the scatter-gun history – it’s still how my brain works, but there’ll be a more consistent focus on WTM topics and insights. That’s OK; it’s a big umbrella.

More importantly, my energy will be directed to the insights and topics that make a difference; think tight-beam laser over broad-beam searchlight.

Practically, with immediate effect, Improving HR content has been moved to an archive – you can still find it by search, but it’s not linked directly in navigation, etc.

But here? This is about helping people get… well… unstuck! So If you’re feeling the bite and thorns of life, job or corporate career, I’m here for you.

And where are we going?

Put simply, when it comes to coaching and WTM, this is where you’re going to find me.

This is where I’m going to go long on concepts and share the core material.

It’s where I’ll talk about the book, and beyond the book.

If you want the detail, this is where it’ll be.

This will be the place for honest, practical guidance on navigating the thorny paths of work and life, and how to step more fully into your favorite self.

Of course, out there on the interwebs, you’ll find some additional stuff:

  1. LinkedIn posts – I’ve really enjoyed living out on LinkedIn as myself, and not dressing everything up in marketing gobbledegook, so I’ll still be doing that
  2. View Beyond – this is a newsletter on LinkedIn – I’m not sure specifically how it’s going to progress going forward, but it’s likely going to be cross-posting of interesting stuff from this site

In my head, it’s all integrated – and you’ll be able to touch into the WTM ecosystem at all of the above

(I’ll put some links below for ease)

but the easiest way to stay up to date, and be part of the conversation, is to subscribe here.

For now, that’s about it –  the proof of this particular pudding will be in the writing.

Thanks for reading this far!

~Vince
